Woman claiming accident compensation after car crash

A Suffolk woman who lost her sister and was severely injured herself in a road traffic accident is reportedly making an accident compensation claim for £500,000.

The 57-year-old was a passenger in a car driven by her sister when the accident happened. Their car was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle which had veered on to the incorrect side of the road.

The woman sustained a serious head injury and also suffered brain damage. Following the incident she is now unable to manage her own affairs independently and medical experts have said that she runs an increased risk of developing epilepsy.

The woman’s sister was rushed to hospital but unfortunately later died. The driver was sentenced to three years in prison for causing death by dangerous driving.

The surviving woman, with the help of her son, is claiming for accident compensation from the driver of the other vehicle. She is claiming for an initial accident compensation payout of £500,000 and also for an order which would mean she could return to court to claim for further compensation should her condition worsen.

The other driver’s insurance company has admitted liability but the two parties have so far been unable to reach agreement on the exact amount of accident compensation that should be paid.
