A Blackburn-based man suffered serious brain injuries as a result of a road traffic accident in which he was knocked down by a car.
The father of two, aged just 26, was hit by a silver Volkswagen Golf as he walked along Shearwater Drive in Blackburn with his wife and young children.
The collision left him with life-threatening injuries, including brain swelling and four skull fractures. He has also been left with ongoing psychological problems as a result of the accident, although his mobility is now said to be improving considerably.
The man was awarded £300,000 in accident compensation at the High Court in London following a claim made against the driver of the car.
The amount was agreed upon following discussion between the victim's family and the car driver's insurance company.
According to the accident victim's legal team, the substantial compensation payout will be used to allow the man to improve his living conditions and to enable a more independent lifestyle.
It will also go towards helping his father, with whom he now lives, to provide the care that he needs.
