Driver who collided with horse seeks millions in accident compensation

A driver whose car collided with a stray horse is seeking almost £4 million in accident compensation, it has been reported.

The driver said that he collided with one of two horses that had escaped from a field and strayed onto the road. The horse landed on the roof of his vehicle and the driver's neck was broken in four places and his lower spine was significantly injured. He suffered serious crush injuries.

The driver hasn’t been able to work since the accident and still suffers back, neck and leg pains, as well as headaches. He has said that being unable to work has left him with financial problems and he fears that he may have to sell his business.

The man is now seeking £3.8 million in accident compensation from the horse’s owner. He alleges that she was obliged to keep the horses securely fenced in. The owner has already pleaded guilty to breaching regulations under the Animals Act and was fined £750. It is alleged that the horses had been reported loose numerous times before this incident.

A court hearing regarding the accident compensation claim is due to be held in London but a date has yet to be announced.
