A young woman who has been involved in a car crash is suing the driver for a substantial amount of accident compensation.
The 20-year-old Swansea student was in the backseat of the Fiat Punto, which was being driven by her grandmother at the time. The older woman lost control of the vehicle and crashed it into an oncoming car in 2003, This is South Wales reported.
Following the accident, the granddaughter almost died during her medical treatment, but she has since fought back to pass her school exams and gain a place at Swansea Metropolitan University.
However, she has hired the services of a legal team to sue her grandmother for compensation of over £300,000 due to the difficulties she suffered and the ongoing need for medical assistance she has been left with as a result of the crash.
So far, the driver's insurers have admitted liability for the incident in 2003 but there has been no agreement on how much accident compensation should be issued.
The young woman remains at Swansea Metropolitan University, where she is studying psychology and counselling and is helped by an education support worker, a teaching assistant, extended deadlines and time allotted for assignments.
