Boy seeks accident compensation after being hit by car

A schoolboy’s family is reportedly seeking up to £100,000 in accident compensation after he was hit by a car whilst walking along the pavement.

The boy, whose identity has not been released, was only eight when the accident took place four years ago. He was walking along the street with his mother when both were hit by a car. The car’s driver had lost control of the vehicle and the car came off the road.

The mother sustained a broken leg in the collision, whilst the boy’s injuries were more serious. The impact of the collision threw him into the air and he sustained significant head injuries. He suffered a fractured skull and had to undergo emergency medical treatment.

Newspaper reports suggest that the boy’s family are now pursuing an accident compensation claim against the driver’s insurer and that a writ has been filed to the High Court. Reports suggest that the boy required significant expert help after the incident and it has had long-term health implications for him, including epilepsy, ongoing headaches, problems with memory and behavioural issues. It is reported that part of the boy’s claim is related to future loss of earnings.
