A man has received £21,500 in accident compensation after he broke his spine in a car crash.
He was driving home from work in January 2008, when a trailer in front of him jack-knifed across two lanes of traffic. The trailer had no lights and because it was dark the car driver could not avoid driving straight into the back of it.
Due to the impact, the car driver had to be rescued from the wreckage and his spine and ankle were both broken. He also suffered Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and couldn’t drive for over a year after the accident.
The injured driver had to wear a body brace and ankle cast for over two months after the car accident and only returned to his work as a security consultant after four months. He still suffers aches and pains in the areas where he suffered injuries.
His solicitor submitted a motor insurance claim, resulting in his accident compensation payout. The solicitor said the accident had been a result of the trailer driver’s “recklessness”. The injured car driver said he was pleased with the compensation settlement he had received and believed he was lucky to be alive.
