Accident compensation of £200,000 is being sought by a nurse following a work accident.
The person involved was working at an NHS hospital when the accident occurred three years ago. As she walked over to help a patient back into bed, the nurse slipped on the wet floor and suffered serious injuries.
Multiple fractures to her right leg led to numerous operations but unfortunately, none of these proved entirely successful and the nurse will now require crutches to help her get around for the rest of her life, the Southern Daily Echo reported.
Following this issue, the woman is making an accident compensation claim against the NHS Trust in question. In papers submitted to the High Court, her injury lawyers have explained that she is seeking up to £200,000 due to the long-term nature of the injury, which has affected her ability to work. While she has been able to take work, it is of a different nature and the independence she enjoyed earlier has suffered as a result of the accident.
The team are claiming that there were no warning signs to indicate that the floor was wet and slippery following cleaning, for which the NHS Trust is blaming the cleaning contractors.
