A man has been awarded £1.1 million in accident compensation after a car accident left him with severe head injuries.
The injured man had to be airlifted to hospital after his car collided with another vehicle. He now suffers from problems with his memory and bouts of depression. He is also at an increased risk of blacking out and suffering epileptic fits, and has reported personality changes resulting from the accident.
The court heard that the injured man lost his job at a supermarket not long after sustaining his injuries and has found it difficult to find a new one because of these difficulties as well as the problems with self-esteem that he now has.
The High Court has approved the other party’s settlement offering of £1.1 million. The judge in the case said the settlement was appropriate because of the current and future care and support needs of the man.
Research shows that there are over 29,000 car accident injuries in the UK every year and that human error accounts for 95 per cent of them. Those who have been injured in a car accident that was someone else’s fault may be entitled to accident compensation for their injuries, as well as a replacement car or repairs and money for physiotherapy.
