Accident compensation claim follows motorbike incident

A crash involving a motorbike and a Ford Fiesta has resulted in an accident compensation claim being brought by one party.

A 12-year-old boy was riding as a passenger on his father's Honda motorbike when he was badly injured in a collision with the car. Now, his stepmother has brought an accident compensation claim against the car's driver for the damages sustained in the 2010 incident.

The driver has already pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention and has been given four penalty points and fined after it was found that she failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to give way, which ultimately caused the collision.

The total claim is for more than £300,000, as the boy has suffered from post-traumatic amnesia and became immobile and uncommunicative, the Watford Observer reported. However, his condition did improve and he left the hospital around three weeks after the accident.

Unfortunately, he was left with cognitive communication issues as well as emotional and behavioural problems and his prognosis is guarded according to the publicly available writ issued at London's High Court.

He is still able to attend the local school but requires help from a support worker due to difficulties with his memory, attention and fatigue.
