A man has received accident compensation after he was involved in a collision with a cattle trailer.
When the accident happened in 2009, the man was driving along a road and a tractor was travelling in the opposite direction towards him. When his car came close to the tractor, the tractor’s cattle trailer swung out to the side. Although he tried to break and swerve, the driver could not avoid crashing into the trailer.
The man, 68, was seriously injured in the collision, suffering a collapsed lung and a broken leg, which later needed a metal pin. Medical experts say he may need further surgery on his leg in future. He spent over two months in hospital following the accident. Since the incident happened, the injured man has not been able to return to work as a taxi driver and says he is now fearful of driving.
The case was settled out of court and the exact accident compensation figure he was awarded has not been disclosed. However, experts suggest it will be a substantial amount as his injuries were significant. Before the case it was reported the man was seeking £115,000 in accident compensation.
