A 69-year-old Welsh woman is to make a claim for accident compensation after she was injured in a bus fall.
She is making a claim for the pain, stress and trauma she suffered as a result of the accident. The woman was travelling on a bus in November last year and stood up ready to get off. She was holding onto a safety strap.
Suddenly, the driver slammed the brakes on and the safety strap jolted and snapped, throwing the woman forward. She landed on her back and hit her head during the fall. The woman was already recovering from back surgery when she fell.
An ambulance was called to the scene, but the woman chose instead to visit her doctor, with the help of another passenger. She said she did not want to worry her husband. The injury victim says that she is now in constant pain and has to take painkillers which make her drowsy all the time. She is waiting to go into hospital for an epidural to try and relieve the pain.
The bus company which she is making a claim for accident compensation against said that passenger and staff safety is its main priority. It added that it would be inappropriate to comment further on this individual case whilst it is ongoing.
