Cyclist to pursue accident compensation claim

A cyclist is set to pursue an accident compensation claim after suffering a serious injury when he was hit by a car.

The 63-year-old suffered multiple fractures to his leg, a fracture to his skull, injuries to his eye and shoulder and damage to his kidney when he was hit by a car when on holiday in Dublin, the Yorkshire Post reported.

Although the incident occurred in late 2010, the victim is still recovering and, after receiving a letter from the driver who caused the accident admitting she was at fault, he intends to pursue an accident compensation claim to pay for the additional rehabilitation he will require.

His solicitor told the paper: “[The victim] suffered extremely serious and multiple injuries as a result of this accident and is now going through a long process of rehabilitation.

“His injuries were suffered through no fault of his own and it is essential that he is able to access the highest level of care and rehabilitation available.”

Since returning from the trip, the man has undergone four operations on his right leg, attended 23 outpatient clinics and physiotherapy classes at hospital and received further treatment at another hospital on eight occasions.
