A cyclist who was involved in a road incident in South London might want to look into accident compensation.
The 53-year-old man, who is originally from Ecuador, spent six months in hospital following the incident in Brixton Road, which occurred in February of this year. He suffered a smashed pelvis and doctors were forced to amputate his left leg below the knee.
According to reports from the Evening Standard, the cyclist was on his way to work at 07:30am and was going very slowly when his front wheel was clipped. This caused him to fall from the bicycle.
He told the paper what happened next: “The tanker went over my leg and I felt a huge pain. I was conscious and could feel it. I just feel so lucky to be alive and would warn all cyclists to be very careful.”
Meanwhile, he told South London Press that his injuries will prevent him from properly working again. Indeed, he is now forced to rely on a wheelchair or crutches to get around and wears a prosthetic leg.
The victim is currently in discussions with a solicitor to ascertain whether or not he is eligible to receive accident compensation.
